This is one of my favorite ways to spice up photos!!! You don’t notice the gold until you get closer and see the shimmery accent which I just love. It’s a really simple but elegant way to dress up a photo without overwhelming the image.
You can use colored photos if you’d like but I prefer black and white for drama. I’ve also found this technique looks amazing on photos featuring architecture or geometric shapes. It makes a great gift idea too if you are in the habit of giving pictures!
FYI, I don’t know the long term effects of Liquid Leaf on photos. I chose pictures I could easily reprint if something went wrong but I would not recommend doing this to heirloom photos. With that being said, I have used this technique before and after 1 1/2 years saw zero damage to my photos!
Psst! If you want to see how I styled these photos in my house take a peek at our Living Room Tour.
You Will Need:
Liquid Leaf (got mine here)
Black and white photo
Small paint brush
Now simply paint whatever accent you like on the photo! Straight lines look very striking so I prefer using those. I also like to start and stop my lines “behind” points of interest such as people to add depth and make those focus points more punch-y!
Play around with it and have fun. :) Use that imagination and do whatever feels right.

It does add interest. I didn’t even notice the gold on the first pictures until you showed what to do.
